The Bungendore house will be part of a world-wide network of Abbeyfield houses. Abbeyfield Australia has a national office In Melbourne, which provides guidelines and support for all houses in Australia.
Each house is managed individually by its own Local Society Management Committee. Abbeyfield Australia helps establish new houses and lobbies government and local councils on behalf of older people.
Abbeyfield house accommodation is the perfect solution for the older person wanting to retain their independence whilst seeking some day to day support, and younger adults with mild intellectual disabilities.
Abbeyfield houses combine independence with support, companionship and security at a price people can afford.
All Abbeyfield accommodation (house and hostels) are operated on a not-for-profit basis by local communities as a local solution to a local housing need.
